Formula 2 has introduced a new price on Wednesday in memory of Anthoine Hubert. The racing class honors the driver who died in August with a prize named after him for the best debutant of the season.
"Anthoine will be part of our family forever," says Formula 2 chairman Bruno Michel about the introduction of the prize. "I'm sure that Anthoine would have been a contender for the title of best debutant until the end of the season."
Hubert became involved in a major crash at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium at the end of August and died in the hospital. The 22-year-old Frenchman was busy with his first season in Formula 2, in which he impressed a lot. Hubert won the races in Monaco and on the French circuit Paul Ricard.
The design of the prize is also a tribute to Hubert. The star that adorned his helmet is on the award and is also in the colors of the French flag. Hubert's signature is also written on the trophy.

Zhou first winner of award
Guanyu Zhou became the first winner of the Anthoine Hubert Award on Wednesday. The Chinese is with seventh place the best classified debutant in the final classification of Formula 2. He received the prize from Victhor Hubert, the brother of Hubert.
"It is an enormous honor to receive this special Anthoine Hubert Award for the rookie of the year," said Zhou, who, just like Hubert, followed the Renault talent program. "This is something that will always stay with me. I hope he is proud of me, and will make sure that he will remain proud of me for the rest of my career."
Nyck de Vries became Formula 2 champion last season. Coming year, the 24-year-old Frisian will compete in Formula E. In 2020, it is unlikely that any Dutchmen will take part in Formula 2.
