Last season Kris Versteeg joined Växjö Lakers late, scoring 17 points on 19 games in the baseline and playoffs. But he is best known for his efforts in the NHL where he played 643 games and won two Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks. That means the club now chooses to pay tribute to the 33-year-old.
The classic NHL club will have Versteeg on the ice when the team warms up, and when the starting five-man is presented with a relegation ahead of the Minnesota Wild Dec. 15 meeting.
Versteeg played a total of six seasons in Chicago on two different occasions in his career, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010 and 2015.
