The game of both teams was to be noted that Bayern was already qualified as a group winners and Tottenham also for the second round. The Bayern came better overall in the game and had significantly more games, but took ten minutes to find their precision. The first chance came from Benjamin Pavard (12 '), who volleyed after Ivan Perišić's cross into Tottenham's keeper Paulo Gazzaniga, and Thiago's subsequent runoff was too harmless. Two minutes later, Kingsley Coman hit Serge Gnabry's pass. In the midst of Bayern's dominance, the equalization by the only 19-year-old Ryan Sessegnon (20) was a complete surprise. It looked ex-international Jérôme Boateng unhappy.

At the end of the first half, Gnabry (38 ') was unlucky with a shot on the left post. Shortly before the break, Thomas Muller's deserved lead (45 ') came back for the fastest after a quick shot from Alphonso Davies. Seconds later, Coutinho missed the ball 20 yards to the bottom of the crossbar.

Even after the change Bayern were superior, but not as compelling for a long time as in half one. Finally, Coutinho (64.) scored from 18 yards - his first Champions League goal for Bayern. After that, hardly anything happened. The players of both teams were visibly struggling to avoid duels and to avoid injuries.

Although Leverkusen had the best chance of the initial phase with the post-shot of the flashy Moussa Diaby (11.). Seconds before, the visibly motivated Ronaldo had narrowly missed the lead of the visitors after an inaccurate attempt by Gonzalo Higuaín.

Christiano Ronaldo (21) and Juan Cuadrado (21) again had the Juve lead on the pitch. Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi failed at Turin goalkeeper icon Gianluigi Buffon (22 '). Playmaker Kai Havertz acted unobtrusively in Bayer midfielder at first, rapid attacks by the hosts ran mostly on Diaby and replaced after just over an hour Bellarabi. The Leverkusen side were in good shape and put pressure on the Juve stars at Buffon early in their own half. A clever play by Bellarabi on Havertz in the penalty area of the Italians could only be defused by Merih Demiral (44.).

The guests of coach Maurizio Sarri offered but thereby again and again rooms. Ronaldo's supposed post-rebound lead was not given due to an offside position from the Portuguese (51 ''). Shortly thereafter fell in Madrid, the 2: 0, the last sixteen moved for Leverkusen thus far off.
