Jasper Cillessen is not in the selection of Valencia for the crucial Champions League match with Ajax from Tuesday evening in Amsterdam.

Thirty-year-old Cillessen fell out in the derby won against Levante (2-4) after half an hour with a calf injury. The former Ajax player hoped to be able to get fit in time, but trainer Albert Celades did not include him in his selection on Monday.

The first goalkeeper of Orange was replaced by Jaume Doménech against Levante and the 29-year-old Spaniard also seems to be the right person to stand against Ajax.

Cillessen left Ajax for FC Barcelona in mid-2016 after five years. Last summer he exchanged the Catalans for Valencia. He missed two of the nineteen official duels of his club so far this season.

Doménech has been under contract with Valencia since the summer of 2015. In recent seasons, he mainly played in Spanish cup competitions.

Summary Valencia-Ajax (0-3)

Ajax has enough of a draw

Ajax-Valencia is a crucial duel in the group phase of the Champions League. Both clubs can still reach the knockout phase, but they can also finish third and come out in the Europa League after the winter.

Valencia must win in Amsterdam to secure the eighth finals, while Ajax only needs one point. Both clubs can also make it if number three Chelsea cannot win from the already eliminated Lille.

The match between Ajax and Valencia starts on Tuesday at 9 p.m. in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The Frenchman Clément Turpin is the referee. Also at Chelsea-Lille the kick-off is at 9 p.m.
