Swedish pellet gold by Fsiha in terrain European Championship

Robel Fsiha rattled and took the first Swedish men's gold ever in the European cross country. He was strong and got a big margin the last lap and could not stop today.

Swedish leaders were ecstatic and ran along the track to cheer Fsiha who reached the goal after 29.59 after 10225 meters on the grass in a park in Lisbon. He made a win with a big smile along the rally to celebrate the historic win. A cross mark was made just after the finish line of the Eritrean-born Swede.

Turkish Aras Kaya pulled hard but Robel Fsiha got stuck and there was a fight between them. Shortly after the bell ringing for the last lap, Fsiha jerked up and just drove. The victory margin was eleven seconds ahead of Kaya.

Got Swedish citizenship a year ago

- It is Fsiha who is the big bang. He was not mentioned among the favorites today, says the commentator on the European Athletics Association's live broadcast.

23-year-old Fsiha was granted Swedish citizenship last December. At the terrain world championships in Denmark last spring he became 17th and best European. He finished second at 10000 meters at the Swedish Championships and third in Finnkampen at the same distance a few months ago and won the Lidingöloppet in the autumn by far.

Norwegian star Filip Ingebrigtsen stopped twelve almost a minute after Fsiha.

Sweden was fifth in the team competition won by Britain.

Sara Wedlund took a Swedish European Championship gold on the women's side in 1996.
