With only one win against Manchester City in the last twelve attempts, history hardly spoke to Chelsea's advantage ahead of Sunday's summit in the English supreme court. And when Scotsman Caroline Weir very generously broadened the guests' management goal with a volley at Kingsmeadow in London, most spoke for a new result in City's taste.

Turned and won

But Chelsea, with the Swedish national team duo Magdalena Eriksson and Jonna Andersson in the defensive line, wanted something different - and managed to turn around. 1–1 put the reliable goalkeeper Bethany England into the 79th minute after she carefully nipped a close-range goal from close range.

And only two minutes later it narrowed again. A less successful outboxing from Manchester City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck gave England a position to shoot - and just in front of the finish line, Norwegian right-back Maren Mjelde managed to steer the striker's end into the nets.

Up in the series top

Despite a heavy final forced out of the away team, Chelsea stayed away, winning by 2-1 and thus going up the series lead. The sixth straight victory means that the London team goes past both last season's champions Arsenal and just Manchester City in second and third place respectively.
