It has been just over three weeks since Sweden's best long distance rider, Ebba Andersson, during a run at the last camp before the competition premier slipped and hit her previously operated knee so badly that she will not compete in the World Cup before the turn of the year. Highly responsible for her rehab tells SVT Sport that it looks good.

- There are no complications, says Magnus Oscarsson.

"Want to get started"

She is followed up by a physiotherapist in Östersund. Magnus Oscarsson has examined Ebba Andersson himself, and has known her on the "pulse".

- She wants to run and run the World Cup. It obviously became a real bang for her. But she has full focus ahead now. She is used to working hard always, now it will be with a different focus for a while, he tells SVT Sport, and continues:

- She runs custom training as best she can. The acute pain has disappeared, and the swelling is gone.

"A good capacity"

Together with physio, she is working on heart rate-boosting exercise such as cycling and water running.

- But of course it's not like she can train completely branch-specific, in the usual environments, says Oscarsson.

Oscarsson does not want to comment on any changed fitness capacity during the rehab period.

- It is difficult to say how much it affects her before a world cup start. I think that when she gets to the World Cup, is well on the starting line, she probably has a good capacity.

Not just strength training

How much she loses is hard to say.

In the first acute weeks, after the soft tissue injury on the inside of his previously operated knee, it was not only strength training for Ebba Andersson.

- There are exercises she can do with the upper body to raise the heart rate. But it is clear that the acute pain state, and the swelling must go down before you can get started and work with your legs. This makes it possible to further pulse.

The forecast remains

When the injury was communicated, the national team management went out and announced that Andersson will not compete before the turn of the year. That forecast remains.

- We are gradually daring to burden the damaged structures more and more. But that does not mean that you can stress, then you can get a setback, if you put too much strain, says the national team doctor.

Even when it starts to feel better, you have to be careful and cautious. She is followed daily, and receives guidance in rehab.
