The President of the Football Association, Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita, yesterday, resigned from the presidency of the Football Association, according to an official source in the Football Association, noting that the members of the Board of Directors will in turn submit collective resignations later, and will be formed an interim committee to manage the affairs of the Union until the election of a new Board of Directors New Elections 2020 - 2024.

A source told «UAE Today» that «this resignation came against the backdrop of criticism against the Federation, recently, because of the modest results of the national team, whether in (Gulf 24), or double qualifying for the World Cup 2022, and the Asian Cup 2023». The resigned Union was elected in 2016, succeeding the former Union headed by Youssef El Serkal. The source said that «Marwan bin Ghalita resigned formally from the presidency of the Union, and therefore the members of the Council will in turn submit collective resignations, and based on these collective resignations of the Union, according to the regulations will be formed an interim committee to manage the union until the election of the new board of directors».

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and Chairman of Ajman Club, will head the Interim Committee of the Football Association until the new federation is elected in 2020.

It is scheduled to announce the members of the Interim Committee during the next week, in preparation for the start of its official work in the management of the Union, including the appointment of a new coach to succeed the former coach, the Dutch Marvik, who was fired.

The outgoing Football Federation has been widely criticized for failing to manage the affairs of the federation, especially at the national team level, which has retreated considerably from its technical level in previous years and has been a competitor in all competitions.
