Inter Milan took advantage of the stumbling of direct rival Juventus, to lead the Italian league standings, after a difficult 2-1 victory over home Spal on Sunday, in the stage 14 of the competition.

Juventus, the champions in the last eight seasons, fell in a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo earlier in the same stage, giving the lead to Inter, who have 37 points at the top, one point behind the "old lady", second place .

The rest of the games resulted in Milan's 1-0 win at Parma and Lazio at home to Udinese 3-0.

At the Gotseppe Meaza stadium, Argentine Laotaro Martinez scored both goals for the Nerazzurri (16 and 41), while Mattia Vallotti scored the only goal of Spal (50).

Inter lost top spot in early October after a 2-1 loss to Juventus, but two months later they managed to regain the top spot.

While Inter have won their fifth consecutive win in the tournament, Spal received their ninth loss of the season with two wins and three draws, putting them free at nine points in 19th place.
