Max Hauke was caught off guard during the Seefeld Ski World Championships in February when the police took him with a cannula in his arm, just hours before the 15 km World Cup.

Together with his friend Dominik Baldauf, he was suspended for four years.

Today, other riders and leaders who were involved in the doping scandal received their sentences.

Estonians Andreas Veerpalu, Karel Tammjärv and Kazak Aleksej Poltoranin are suspended for four years for doping. This was announced by the International Ski Federation, Fis, at a press conference.

Want to see stricter punishment

In addition to them, Algo Kärp, coach Mati Alaver and Andrus Veerpalu are also suspended for four years. Andrus Veerpalu, who is the father of the doping suspended Andreas, is suspended for his involvement.

- It is good that the cheaters are being dropped and that they are shutting them down a lot. Like Veerpalu, although it is the son who was withdrawn, it is something that has hurt a little and has not felt good for several years. So good now that it comes to light, says SVT Sports expert Anders Blomquist.

Four years of suspension will be punished, too much too little?

- I think conscious doping should be a lifetime. But four years is well on the verge of it. Based on the existing regulations, it is good, but I think it should be an even stricter regulation.

The doping scandal in Seefeld, how has it affected skiing?
- I don't see it as hitting a sport, however, I think it's good that cheaters are being dropped. It is extremely sad that there are individuals who are prepared to cheat and take advantage of the others, but that there are rules that you are prepared to fight for them are only positive.
