The Girondins won 2-1 against Monaco on Sunday at the 14th day of Ligue 1.

Bordeaux overturned a Monaco team too clumsy and further reduced to ten (2-1), Sunday at the 14th day, settling in the third provisional place of the Championship of France before moving from Marseille to Toulouse in the evening.

At Matmut Atlantique Stadium, the Monegasques had been dominating in the first period, to the point of taking the advantage thanks to a nice finish of Islam Slimani on a deviation of Wissam Ben Yedder (15th).

But Pablo equalized his head soon after (29th) and Slimani precipitated the Monegasque defeat: the Algerian center-forward, present in the wall on a free kick, caused a penalty for having roughly countered the ball of the arm, receiving a second warning (67th). Already the sixth red card this season for the ASM! Nicolas de Préville converted (69) and Bordeaux could have even increased the score on a shot from the young Yassine Benrahou who hit the post (77).

Monaco falls to 14th place

This short success is the business of the Girondins (22 pts), provisional third behind Angers (2nd, 24 pts) and Marseille (4th, 22 pts). And that plumps Monegasques (14th, 18 pts) to a week of their shock against the leader, Paris SG (1st, 33 pts). Freaked in the second half of the table, Leonardo Jardim's team is not much better off in the fair play rankings: no other team has received so many red cards in Ligue 1 this season, with almost a match over two completed outnumbered.

Obviously, it complicates the task. And it has complicated the end of the game Monegasques, who could have snatched the draw on Sunday if Ben Yedder, untenable, had more success against the very good porter Bordeaux Benedict Costil (79).
