A few days before the Davis Cup kicked off, Russian number 1 Daniil Medvedev resigned from participating in the tournament due to exhaustion. Therefore, the Russian team attended the event with only three players: Karen Khachanov, Andrey Rublev and Evgeny Donskoy. And, interestingly, the first two have played all the matches to date. They have disputed the points of singles and have formed a partner in doubles matches. The result has been unbeatable: Russia is in the semifinals after defeating Novak Djokovic's Serbian in a decisive tie-break that ended in a cardiac manner (6-4, 4-6 and 7-6).

Rublev, at the first point, started explosive and delighted the early risers with masterful tennis. His rival, Filip Krajinovic , who came undefeated (two wins in two games) found no obstacle to the overwhelming Russian game. 6-1, 6-2 was the marker of a match that did not even exceed the game time.

Djokovic matched the tie without needing to use his best version (6-3, 6-3) and, immediately after his celebration on the track Manolo Santana, announced that he would play the doubles match with Troicki. A duel, of course, in which he would face the usual Russian couple, who has not had a sigh since he debuted last Tuesday against Croatia.

The Russian coach, Shamil Tarpischev , has given all the responsibility to his two most reliable tennis players - Khachanov, number 17 in the world; and Rublev, 23-. Both came to the decisive quarterfinal match with more than ten hours of accumulated play in the tournament, doubling in all the qualifiers (Croatia, Spain and Serbia).

However, what could be an obvious fatigue on the track, has become an impetuous game. Especially of the 22-year-old, called to rub shoulders in the very near future with the high spheres of the ATP circuit.

Russia will fight with Canada for a spot in Sunday's final. The semifinals will be played on Saturday in the first round. And there is no need to discover who will be part of the Tarpischev team.
