Four boxplay in the first period for Djurgården. But despite that, it was the Stockholmers who led after 20 minutes played. In Djurgården's only powerplay for the period, Michael Haga won a drawing in the offensive zone. Mattias Guter intercepted a loose puck and edged 1-0 to the away team after just over two minutes played.

During the period break, the new Djurgårdsforward Dick Axelsson with the piece of art managed to be expelled on his way out to the dressing room. In the TV pictures, Axelsson seemed to end up in a hot exchange of words with the judge who chose to hand out a two-minute expulsion for "abuse of referees".

Djurgården was allowed to start the second period in a five to three position but managed to ride out the storm. Later in the period, it was instead Djurgården who got the chance in five against three and the away team was all the more successful. After just over a minute in double numerical superiority, Linus Hultström was given the opportunity to print, and as he did. Straight up the intersection for the 26-year-old back and 2-0 to Djurgården.

Reduction by goal scoreboard

Nicklas Svedberg in Djurgårdsmål decided, with two minutes left of the second period, to embark on adventure from his goal yard. The goalkeeper tried on a clearing halfway up the center line. But Svedberg got no hit on the puck and HV71 was given a way into the match.

In a rolling third period, Djurgården's big golden calf, Alexander Holtz, managed to make a return goal to 3-1, his fifth for the season. Eric Martinsson then gave hope to HV after a much-awaited powerplay goal for the home team. With 30 seconds left of regular time, the puck bounced straight up in the air after a save from Nicklas Svedberg. When the puck landed, Simon Önerud was in the castle and sent in the receipt.

Despite a clearly much smaller puck holding in the extension, it was still former Djurgårdaren Emil Johansson who set the profit target for HV. Heavier for the Stockholmers who now have six straight losses in SHL.
