LONDON (Reuters) - The English Premier League may be the world's biggest daily football series, but Wednesday's dramatic change will impress even the best screenwriters, because things are more exciting now.

The "evil genius" with his black jacket has reappeared, this time inside the corridors of a club that has always been proud of his image as a team that preserves the beauty and splendor of football.

The Portuguese coach does not match Tottenham's style and the Portuguese coach does not want to lose the "right combination" to win. Mourinho was crowned with titles in Portugal, Spain, Italy and England because he was playing for victory and his plans focused on achieving results rather than offering pleasure and beauty to the public.

In the midst of this multifaceted drama, an important aspect of Mourinho's desire to coach the London club is to prove himself after two and a half seasons at Manchester United, which has failed and prolonged his reputation.

Mourinho, 56, knows that "respect, respect and respect," waving three fingers to indicate how many times Chelsea have won the league title, will make no difference.

Mourinho is able to draw attention and is always ready to provoke controversy and is fully aware of the impact this has to increase attention in England, just as in Italy, where he led Inter Milan to shine and Spain, where he has a success story with Real Madrid.

The irony is that Mourinho took the job after Argentine Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino's name was a strong proposition to succeed Mourinho in his last days at Old Trafford. Many commentators have pointed out that Pochettino's attractive style of play is the ideal remedy for the treatment of the "Red Devils" of the way Mourinho's operation is too much.

Commentators have also portrayed Mourinho as an old coach, outdated for his retreating approach to Pochettino's newer and more sophisticated approach.

Champions League final
But soon things change in the world of football, or so Mourinho thinks about himself, but he will also realize that he is a very lucky coach to take over Tottenham after Pochettino.

At Old Trafford, Mourinho took over as an inexperienced team and needs major reforms, but his task now with Tottenham is to improve the results of a team that qualified a few months ago to the Champions League final.

Mourinho's new team, whose captain is England striker Harry Kane, also includes South Korean Sun Hyung-Min, one of the Premier League's top strikers.

Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen could create opportunities for this offensive duo. If Mourinho can help Dale Alli rediscover himself, nothing will stop Tottenham to regain his attacking glow again, as in Pocetino's best years.

This is the other side of the picture although Tottenham will need to improve further. If there is a possibility that defenders Jan Vertonen and Toby Alderverled will not continue with the club, but this experienced Belgian duo can at least ensure stability in the short term.

Tottenham had an early team spirit after Pochettino took over as coach. However, this spirit has been badly damaged in recent months, especially as Eriksen and other key players close to the end of the contract.

The lack of positive spirit among the players was precisely what Mourinho suffered as a coach and his nervousness eroded the morale and enthusiasm among the players, much improved once Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over at Old Trafford.

There is logic behind Tottenham boss Daniel Levy's decision to assign Mourinho to the job with Tottenham, who needs many of the qualities shown by the Portuguese coach during his career.

Special One won 25 titles in his career with teams and dozens of individual awards:

- Porto 2002-2004: Six titles, including the Champions League and the percentage of winning games (127 games) amounted to 72%.

- Chelsea 2004-2007 and 2013-2015: eight titles and a win-win ratio (321 games) and reached 63%.

- Inter Milan 2008-2010: Five titles, including the Champions League and the percentage of winning games (108 matches) reached 62%.

- Real Madrid 2010-2013: three titles and a win rate in games (178 games) and reached 72%.

- Manchester United 2016-2018: three titles and the percentage of win games (144 games) approached 58%.

The real question is who will come up with Tottenham, will Mourinho be an enthusiastic and adventurous figure who has appeared at Inter Milan and Porto during his first spell with Chelsea or the faint character at Manchester United?

In his first statement to Mourinho after his appointment, he said it was his priority to restore a smile to the Spurs fans.

"We know the team's ranking in the Premier League and we realize that this is not our place. We have to focus on one game after another.

"By the end of the season we will see where the team will be. But I know we will be in a different situation than we are now ...

Mourinho's side are away to 16th-placed West Ham United on Saturday.
