The Davis Cup has issued a statement on Thursday afternoon to inform that the matches played on Friday and Saturday will begin half an hour earlier. Specifically, those in the morning will start at 10.30am and those in the afternoon, as long as the morning shift does not lengthen, it will begin at 17.30h .
With this, the organization responds to complaints from tennis players and fans regarding schedules. World No. 1, Rafa Nadal , was blunt after his duel with Khachanov on Tuesday: "The schedules are the only drawback I put to the tournament, they are not good for anyone . " In the early hours of Wednesday, the doubles match between the United States and Italy lasted until after four in the morning on the Arantxa Sánchez Vicario track, where they barely resisted around 50 fans.
However, this minimum advance does not seem to solve the main drawback of this new Davis Cup format, organized by the company Kosmos de Gerard Piqué. The decisive match in the second quarterfinal turn on Friday will leave, with total security, at dawn. Spain, which will be measured in Argentina at the first crossing, will therefore begin its tie this Friday at 5.30 pm.
