Cristina Gutiérrez (Burgos, 1991) has competed the three Dakar rallies in which she has participated and in all of them, in addition, she has improved the result of the previous year. So his 26th place in 2019 now makes the top-25 a totally real goal behind the wheel of his Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. With Pablo Huete as co-driver, Gutierrez is delighted with his new car, managed by Sodicars and supported by Mitsubishi Motors Spain.

A new Dakar arrives. How do you face the challenge? With great desire, as always. With great enthusiasm. It is my fourth consecutive Dakar, with which I am very grateful to all who have made it possible for me to be running again. The rally lands in Saudi Arabia. Do you think there will be many changes? It is a new continent, a new route, even new rules at the level of 'roadbook' that will already be revealed. It will be very nice for the Dakar in general to change the continent. We all want to go there. It is a country where the figure of women is a bit curtailed. Do you think that will affect those who compete in the Dakar? In my case I am quite calm. I think ASO has it quite tied and quite safe. Even so, I also think that from within politics in Saudi Arabia they are very interested that an event as big as the Dakar, with working women and competing, goes there. It is a woman in a world of men. Do you feel suspicious of male pilots? In my case I do not know if it is because I ignore what may come, but for now I have always felt very well accompanied. They respect me as a pilot, that is very important. Sometimes they fear me. I think I am well received and I am delighted. Does it sting when it comes forward? They bite, but it is normal. As if a boy were ahead of them, the same. One of his rivals will be Fernando Alonso. What does it mean for the race that he takes the exit? From my point of view it is very good news. Let a person like Alonso come, with his experience and everything generated at the media level, it will come great to the Dakar. He is also my idol since I was 10 years old. I'm in a cloud. What role do you think you can do in a test like this? It's your first Dakar, it's a very complicated race because you have to keep mechanics and be careful with the traps. If it ends it is a spectacular achievement. But I know that he is going to win and there are chances of being among the first. They say that it takes about three or four years to be able to compete for the title, which is very difficult to do in the first or second participation. Can Alonso shorten those deadlines? He has shown in other disciplines that he is an extraterrestrial pilot, for him there is no time. It adapts to anything you take in less than a second and the times for it are reduced a lot. You have already passed that acclimatization period. Is being among the top 25 a real goal? With the machinery we carry and the media, seeing last year also how we compete, I think it is a realistic goal that we can overcome.
