World and Olympic champion Moataz Issa Barsham won the award of the Spanish newspaper `` AS '' as the best Arab athlete of the year 2019, after winning the gold medal of the high jump competition at the World Athletics Championships hosted by Qatar recently.

According to the Spanish newspaper in a report on the Qatari champion, Barsham, a specialist in athletics, calls him in Qatar the title of "high bird", characterized by an avid character of adventure, and it is one of the fruits of Aspire Academy, which is well-sponsored in Qatar.

Barsham won two Olympic medals, one was bronze in London in 2012 and the other silver in Rio 2016.He also won two consecutive world championships, the first at the 2017 World Championships in London and retained the title in Doha 2019.

The Spanish newspaper said that Bersham entered the challenge with himself during the Doha Championship 2019 after recovering from an ankle fracture that caused him to be out of action for months, before returning early this year without going to many competitions, which was a major challenge for him.

At the World Athletics Championships (Doha 2019), in front of a huge crowd at Khalifa International Stadium to support him surprised Bershm and succeeded in surpassing all his rivals and took the gold medal and first place for the high jump, to retain his title record 2.37 meters.

After winning the gold, Bershm revealed that he was not in full fitness, but when he entered the field and saw everyone cheering for him and supported him felt great enthusiasm, which made him superior to himself and achieve the title he described as the most expensive in his sporting life.
