Many supporters and football profiles have expressed great surprise and criticism of Tottenham's choice of Jose Mourinho as the new manager of the club, after they dismissed Mauricio Pochettino yesterday.

SVT Sports expert Daniel Nannskog is no exception.

- It feels surprising, I must say. It is well known that he has been on the decline, to say the least. Not least with Manchester United in fresh memory, and I didn't think Tottenham would be interested. I think Pocchetino has been a very good coach for Tottenham, even though it has chopped a lot in the league, he says, and continues:

- So that Mourinho would come in ... No, it surprises me.

Why do you think they chose him?

- Jadu ... That's a good question. I don't know how they think. But it is a winner after all, it is well what they think from Tottenham. He has won the league, won the Champions League the most. You may well think that he should find his way back to his old Mourinho.

- Those are the reasons, I suppose.

"A gambling"

Mourinho's contract extends all the way to 2023. A little far, says Nannskog.

- Yes, it's a long way. It's far. Somehow it's a gambling. Had it been a few years ago, it might not have been, but given how Morurinho was the latest United victory, it feels like a gambling to sign such a long contract, he says.

Current for United?

What happens to 47-year-old Pocchetino, who led Tottenham for five and a half years, remains to be seen. But Daniel Nannskog does not think it will be long before we see him on the coach bench again.

- It's a really good coach, I feel. So he will not go unemployed for so long. Arsenal is a team that might have needed a new coach, who should be interested in his services. Then the question is whether he is keen to go to Arsenal, says Nannskog, and continues:

- Manchester United is definitely another team he could have been relevant to.
