At Lidingö, outside Stockholm, the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) today presented the first selection for the Tokyo Olympics next summer.

Then 15 active and five teams were told that they can already start planning for a summer in Japan.

It was largely expected names that got the go-ahead, with the World Cup and Olympic medalists in most places. Among other things Sarah Sjöström, who took the Olympic gold at 100 meters butterfly in Rio de Janeiro 2016, received an Olympic ticket.

"The goal in Tokyo is to be in the shape of my life so we can see how far it goes," she says.

Among other things, we can note that all Swedish medalists from the autumn athletics world championships in Qatar (Daniel Ståhl, Armand Duplantis and Perseus Karlström) got the go-ahead.

Worth noting is that even Mattias Falck (World Cup silver in table tennis 2019) and the men's national team in table tennis (bronze in the World Cup 2018) were given the clear sign, despite not yet qualifying internationally.
