Carmelo Anthony (35) returns to the NBA more than a year after his last match. The ten-time All-Star in the world's largest basketball competition has signed a contract for the remainder of the season with Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.

Anthony is considered one of the best basketball players of the past fifteen years, but he couldn't find a new club after leaving Houston Rockets early last season.

The 2.03 meter long forward, which played its last NBA duel on November 8, 2018, now has another chance in the NBA. Portland Trail Blazers made it to the final of the Western Conference last season - in which the team lost to Golden State Warriors - but disappoints in the current year with nine defeats and only five victories.

"Carmelo is a star in this competition and will be a respected player in the dressing room and on the field for us", says Neil Olshey, technically responsible for the Trail Blazers.

Anthony debuted in 2003 on behalf of Denver Nuggets in the NBA. After more than seven seasons in Colorado, he forced a departure to New York Knicks, where he became the NBA's top scorer in the 2012/2013 season with an average of 28.7 points per game.

After more than seven seasons with the Knicks, the New York-born basketball player played shortly before Oklahoma City Thunder and the Rockets, where he was increasingly less impressed.

Anthony receives contract worth $ 2.15 million

Anthony has played 1,064 NBA duels so far and recorded an average of 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

'Melo' won Olympic gold in 2008, 2012 and 2016 with the American team. With 25,551 points, he is currently in nineteenth place on the all-time top scorers list in the NBA.

Anthony signs a one-year contract with Trail Blazers for a value of $ 2.15 million (equivalent to € 1.94 million). It is only certain that he will receive that amount if he still belongs to the selection of the Portland club in January.

He's back. Welcome to Portland, @carmeloanthony! đź”—: https://t.co/4b1lNXcYQS
