Red Bull Racing has once again improved its own pit stop record on Sunday. Winner Max Verstappen's second stop in Brazil took just 1.82 seconds.

Red Bull Racing has once again improved its own pit stop record on Sunday. Winner Max Verstappen's second stop in Brazil took just 1.82 seconds.

It is the second time this year that Red Bull has further tightened the record of the fastest pit stop ever in Formula 1. Pierre Gasly was able to continue in the Grand Prix of Great Britain after 1.91 seconds. In Germany, Red Bull subsequently succeeded in changing the tires at Verstappen after just 1.88 seconds.

That old record has been sharper by 0.06 seconds since Sunday. At the second pit stop of Verstappen on Interlagos, the team managed to improve their own record.

A quick tire change was also necessary at that time, because Lewis Hamilton had entered a lap earlier. The Mercedes driver tried to take the lead with an 'undercut', but with 3.3 seconds he stood still considerably longer in the pits than Verstappen.

On Sunday it was stated during the race that the Verstappen pit stop took 1.9 seconds, but DHS - which records the times of the pit stops all year round - reported on Monday that the exact time was 1.82 seconds.

Third pit stop is also crucial for Verstappen

In total, Verstappen made three pit stops in Brazil en route to the eighth victory in his career. Afterwards, Christian Horner praised Hannah Schmitz, who, as a team strategist, made the decision to let Verstappen make an unplanned third stop when the safety car first arrived on the track in the final phase of the race.

As a result, Verstappen lost the lead to Hamilton, but was able to quickly regain the first place on his fresh set of tires. As a thank you, Schmitz was allowed to join Verstappen on the podium after the race in São Paulo.

It's another world record! At the #BrazilGP @redbullracing did it again - they have now secured the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award before the season has even ended. Congratulations! # DHLF1 # F1 # MomentsThatDeliver➡️All pit stop times: https://t.co/PY5mTPKeCM
