FC Den Bosch coach Erik van der Ven apologized to Excelsior-striker Ahmad Mendes Moreira for his statements on Sunday in a conversation on Monday. The much-discussed Moreira has accepted the apologies.
Van der Ven caused a fuss on Sunday by calling Moreira "a pathetic man" after the attacker celebrated his goal in the direction of FC Den Bosch fans who had treated him racist shortly before. The game was halted due to the racist incident, but was played out.
"That had to do with his cheers in front of the M-side grandstand and nothing with racism or the fact that he ran off the field. I am definitely not racist and I regret my remark anyway. I said that from emotion and should not have done that ", said Van der Ven Monday after the conversation with Moreira on the Excelsior site.
The trainer's remark made a lot of sense, as he was threatened later on Sunday and therefore did not sleep at home. On Monday, he again led the training of FC Den Bosch.
Moreira: "Of course I could not have foreseen that this would have these consequences. If you hear about the threats he has received, I am very sorry. We have now spoken and I have accepted his apologies."

Chairman Schouten happy with conversation
Jan-Hein Schouten, the chairman of FC Den Bosch, is happy that the cold between Van der Ven and Moreira is now gone. "It is great that Excelsior offered this opportunity for the interview and that their trainer Ricardo Moniz was also involved," he told NUsport.
The president is disappointed and admits that this was partly caused by FC Den Bosch itself with a weak first explanation and the controversial interview by trainer Van der Ven. Schouten wants the guilty fans to be traced and to receive a lifelong stadium ban.
The racist incident at FC Den Bosch-Excelsior keeps the mood in the Netherlands busy. For example, the Public Prosecution Service announced an investigation, informed the KNVB that it would take action, and said Orange-international Georginio Wijnaldum to be shocked.
