Even after the euphoty of a second continental title, the beautiful dynamics of Algeria seems to be prolonged. Already victorious 5-0 from Zambia on day 1 of the CAN-2021 qualifiers, the Greens reoffended by taking all three points again, moving to the Botswana pitch (1-0).

The men of Djamel Belmadi did not however renew the offensive demonstration of their entry in the race, being satisfied with a short success on the move. Without Baghdad Bounedjah (entered during the game but with Andy Delort in tip, the Fennecs have not had the expected performance, despite a clear domination.

Their stranglehold on the match has also quickly materialized, since even before the quarter of an hour of play, Belaïli (1-0, 14th) was illustrated by registering an improbable direct corner. A nice initiative finally without follow-up, but Algeria, strong of a second success, did not fail to keep the head of the group H. Before the duel between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Tuesday, they provisionally count five points of ahead of their closest pursuer.

Egypt and DR Congo do not succeed

The other favorites on this Monday's continental jousting program have not all been so successful. On a trip to Sao Tome and Principe, Ghana struggled to win, saved by a small goal from Jordan Ayew after the break (1-0, 50th). This is a minimal gap, for the Black Stars, who are still in the lead, namely the top of Group C with six points in two games.

The record is on the other hand much less glorious more in the North-East of the continent, on the side of Egypt. Always private Mohamed Salah, the host country of the 2019 edition suffered a real camouflage by sharing points with Comoros (0-0). A second draw in as many trips that put the Pharaohs in third place in group G, tied with Kenya but two units behind their host of the day, which dominates the debates with four points thanks to his inaugural success against Togo.

And what about the DR Congo ... Hanged by Gabon in opening, she suffered the same fate on the lawn of Gambia. Twice, the Leopards were joined, Danso (52) and Modou Jagne (90) responding to Bakambu (45) and Mukela (75). Final score, two goals everywhere and a worrying third place for the DR Congo, which is already two points behind Gambia and Gabon, co-leaders in the evening of the second day of these qualifiers.
