Organizers of the Beirut International Marathon have canceled this year's event altogether due to the situation in Lebanon and the popular movement since 17 October.

The Beirut Marathon Association, which organized the event annually since 2003, has postponed the race, which was scheduled on November 10, to another notice. November 2020 ".

The association will refund the fees paid by the participants upon registering in the race "as soon as the banking situation in Lebanon is regularized."

"The Beirut Marathon Association, which has been distressed by this decision and its administrative and financial implications, would like to extend its sincere apologies from all the partners, the true and ideal sponsors, the runners and hostilities and the Lebanese people in general."

She described the race as "an event that reinforced Lebanon's position on the map of international sporting events and presented the civilized image of the will of life among the Lebanese as the beloved capital of Beirut or the marathon cities every year."

The association had initially postponed the event, but as demanding demonstrations continued and roads and sit-ins were closed, the race was canceled.

The annual race is one of the most important sporting events in Lebanon, where the Beirut International Race has been ranked in the silver level since 2015, and was a candidate to receive the gold rating from the International Association of Athletics Federations, which witnesses the participation of two international runners every year.
