Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo led his country to qualify for Euro 2020 after a 2-0 win at Luxembourg on Sunday in the final round of Group B matches.

Portugal moved up to 17 points in second place, two points behind leaders Ukraine, who booked the first place in the group earlier, who also drew with Serbia 2-2.

The Portuguese team needed to win any result to win the candidacy for the tournament, which holds the title of the last version in France three years ago, without regard to the outcome of the game Serbia and Ukraine.

Despite the poor condition of the pitch and Luxembourg's attempt to surprise by hitting at least a draw, Portugal's experience ultimately settled for them.

Bruno Fernandez opened the scoring in the 39th minute, and Ronaldo boosted the win by 86 minutes bringing the number of goals in international matches to 99 goals, and is only ten goals away from the record-equaling record as the most scored international goals in the world, carried by retired Iranian star Ali Daei.
