The day after the close of the first day of the CAN-2021 playoffs, the African selections have returned to the lawns across the continent, with a particularly dense Sunday rise. No less than eleven games in the program, who have seen the favorites for the qualification hold their rank.

No major surprise, therefore, the evening of football Sunday, although some large teams have experienced a small delay ignition. This was notably the case of Senegal, which took almost an hour to measure the modest Eswatini. The meeting, interrupted by a violent storm, was finally won without much concern by the Lions of Teranga, who made the difference thanks to the sumptuous trio of Diedhiou, made in less than ten minutes (0-3, 59th, 66th and 68th).

Match stopped because of storm!

The gap acquired despite the reduction of the Mamba score (1-3, 70th), expelled two minutes later, the men of Aliou Cisse even added a fourth goal through Ndiaye in the last quarter of an hour (1-4, 77th). A second success in as many meetings for the vice-champions of Africa, who logically took the lead of group I qualifications.

Mali and Cameroon garner

Among the other sure values of the continent, Mali did not tremble on the turf of Chad, closing the mark even before returning to the locker room. A gap gained thanks to the achievements of Djenepo (0-1, 14th) and Camara (0-2, 45th), which allowed the Eagles to finally launch their campaign in Group A, after the frustrating draw conceded a few days earlier facing Guinea.

The frustration of the first day also gave way to smiles on the side of South Africa. Hardly beaten by Ghana for their entry in the running, the Bafana Bafana set the record straight, without shining however, but still preventing three points against Sudan. A short victory won just before the break on a goal from Phiri (1-0, 45th).

The extent of Cameroon's success, already qualified because of its host country status, has not been more significant. At least, the Indomitable Lions managed to sign their first success in this campaign, by winning in Rwanda. The Cameroonians, who made the difference in the second half thanks to Ngamaleu (0-1, 71), reassure a little after their inaugural draw against Cape Verde.
