Over 27,000 skiers are now ranked on one and the same list. Ski Classics, which is usually behind the international long-distance tour as well as the semi-professional Challenger Tour, have created a global ranking that includes both professional men and women, but also gymnasts.

- It is really everyone who skis except those who go to the World Cup, they have their own rank, says the CEO of Ski Classics, David Nilsson, to SVT Sport.

The ranking is based on results ten years in the back and the score is counted on the riders' 20 best results in the last two years. The points are awarded according to the formula in percentage of time behind the winner divided into a women's and a men's class. The winner in a given race gets 2 million points plus an investment bonus of 200,000. Then it is an exponentially falling curve in points, to reward good riders instead of many riders.

18 wins in the long race cup

- A good athlete will never beat an elite rider even if he runs 20 races, assures David Nilsson.

Among more than 27,000 names, there is a Swedish 36-year-old who according to Ski Classics is regarded as the world's best skier, Britta Johansson Norgren.

- That she is number one in a ranking where everyone is part is obviously very big, says David Nilsson.

Johansson Norgren has a total of 18 wins in the long-race cup and is also ranked one in the Ski Classics hall of fame.

- Britta himself is not the one who emphasizes himself. But I would probably say that it is unlikely that we will get such a great skier again, concludes David Nilsson.
