The World Bodybuilding Championship, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, concluded yesterday with the participation of 1000 players from 120 countries and hosted by Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.

The Iranian team ranked first with 225 points, the national team came second with 183 points, then the Russian team third with 124 points, followed by teams: South Korea, Ukraine and China, respectively.

At the Arab level, Egypt ranked seventh, Syria tenth, Bahrain in the 12th place, Oman 13, Algeria 14, Saudi Arabia 15, Iraq 18, Libya 42 and Jordan 47.

The UAE team was close to winning the first place by a point difference, had it not been for the difference in the experience of participating in the world championships, especially since the team returns to the championship after it stopped participating since the 2015 edition.

Rafael Santuga, president of the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFAB), told Emirates Today: “I can describe the tournament as an exceptional one, one of the most outstanding tournaments in the world, and we are happy to do so. A difference in body building worldwide. ”

For his part, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mohammed Obaid bin Majid, that the organizational success was achieved in the championship thanks to the spirit of one team, said: «Organizational success of the championship coincided with the success of the sons of the UAE to win second place, in an unprecedented and historic achievement by winning this large number of Medals, in strong competitive conditions, because of the participation of the best teams of the world ».

World championship director Khalil Maarouf identified six points that made the World Cup the best in the world, pointing to Emirates Today: “The tournament was attended by 101 international sports figures, and the team succeeded in winning 12 medals in the biggest harvest of the World Cup. The languages ​​spoken by the participants, a course of referees were organized, and eight UAE bodybuilders led the keynote presentations.
