Giant audience at Wembley when England fell to Germany

77,768 people had gone to Wembley to see the England women lose 2-1 against Germany in a national match. So many people have never seen England's women play football, but they had also hoped for a European public record on the ladies' side and they did not succeed.

Germany took the lead early on by Alexandra Popp. England then got the chance to acknowledge when Ellen White fell, but Nikita Parris's penalty was saved by Merle Frohms.

1-1 came in the 44th minute through just White who sent in a cross and then Wembley exploded.

In the final minute of the match Germany then made it 2-1 through Klara Bühl and then the crowd silenced.

The biggest crowd at a women's match in Europe was the 2012 Olympic final between the US and Japan. It was also played at Wembley and there were 80,203 people there. Largest of all time with the world included is the 1999 World Cup final when the United States beat China at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena. Then the figure was mighty 90 185.
