Luuk de Jong qualified for the knock-out phase of the Europa League with Sevilla on Thursday-evening by winning 2-5 at Dudelange in Luxembourg. Wout Weghorst and Jeffrey Bruma did bad business with VfL Wolfsburg, while Jeremain Lens received a direct red card from Besiktas.
Substitute De Jong came into the field six minutes after halftime at Sevilla, when the visitors were already leading 0-4 at Stade Josy Barthel through two goals from Munas Dabbur and Munir El Haddadi in the first half.
El Haddadi completed his hat trick in the 67th minute, after which Dudelange saved the honor in the final phase. Danel Sinani first made it 1-5 in the 69th minute and reduced the margin to three eleven minutes later.
Because of the resounding victory, Sevilla comes out on twelve points in four games, while last-minute Dudelange remains stuck on three points. APOEL beat Qarabag 2-1 on Thursday and is second with four points. Number three Qarabag also has four points.
Seville was already very successful in the Europa League this decade, as the Spanish subtopper won the second most important European club tournament in the 2013/2014, 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons.

Substitute Dost loses with Eintracht Frankfurt
In group F, Bas Dost and Eintracht Frankfurt lost 2-1 to Standard Luik by a goal from former PSV player Maxime Lestienne in the 94th minute. Former FC Groningen striker Filip Kostic had taken care of the equalizer in the 65th minute, but that was not enough. Dost entered the field fifteen minutes before time.
Due to the narrow defeat, Frankfurt is stuck at six points, while Standard Luik has reached the same number of points. The Belgians are second on the basis of mutual results. Arsenal is the leader with ten points.
In group C, Tonny Vilhena and FC Krasnodar booked a home win over the Turkish Trabzonspor: 3-1. The first two goals were already scored in the first half by an own goal from Serkan Asan and a goal from Manuel Fernandes. Ivan Ignatyev made the 3-0 in injury time and the final chord was for Trabzonspor.
As usual, Vilhena was at the kick-off at Krasnodar. The 24-year-old midfielder played just like in the first three Europa League-games with FC Basel (5-0 loss), Getafe (1-2 loss) and Trabzonspor (0-2) the full ninety minutes.
FC Basel beat Getafe 2-1 and is leading Group C with ten points. Getafe and Krasnodar have four points less and Trabzonspor is at the bottom with one point.

Weghorst and Bruma down with Wolfsburg
In Group I, Weghorst and Bruma with Wolfsburg suffered a home defeat against KAA Ghent: 1-3. The Germans still opened the score after twenty minutes via João Victor, but the Belgians took the lead after goals by Roman Yaremchuk and Laurent Depoitre and secured the win fifteen minutes before the end.
Weghorst, who will hear on Friday if he is part of the final selection of the Dutch national team for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers, participated, just like Bruma, in the entire competition at Wolfsburg.
The team of trainer Oliver Glasner is stuck on five points, three less than the leader in Ghent. Number three Saint-Etienne won 0-2 at FC Oleksandriya and he also has five points.

Red Lens with losing Besiktas
In group K, Lens with the still scoreless Besiktas lost SC 3: 3-1. The Dutchman received a direct red card after 44 minutes with a bit of a wild sliding, though it didn't seem to hit his direct opponent. At the time of the red card it was already 2-1 and Wilson Eduardo ended the game in the 81st minute.
In group H, Justin Kluivert and AS Roma handed over a point to Borussia Mönchengladbach: 2-1. Defender Federico Fazio worked in his own goal after 35 minutes, but made up for his mistake by making it 1 - 1 after 64 minutes.
Due to a goal by Marcus Thuram in the fifth minute of injury time, Roma ended the game in a minor position. Kluivert played the entire game with the Romans, who, like Mönchengladbach, have five points. Istanbul Basaksehir, who triumphed 0-3 at RZ Pellets WAC, leads with seven points.
Espanyol provided one of the most striking results of Thursday evening. The Spaniards were no less than 6-0 too strong for the Ludogorets of former Ajax player Jody Lukoki. The visitors were in Spain from the twelfth minute with ten and from the 35th minute with nine men.
