The Australian gentlemen Socceroos bring in more revenue to the country's football federation. But the ladies, Matildas, are doing better on the pitch. Therefore, the law should receive equal compensation, Australian media reports.

This means, among other things, that all sponsorship money ends up in a pot, from which the money is split equally between the two national teams.

The hope is that the agreement will be signed, and Matildas will be the first salary-matched national team, ahead of an international match against Chile in Sydney on Saturday.

"Obviously this is a welcome investment in women's soccer and we are really excited about this," Matilda's team captain Sam Kerr told Channel 7.

- All details are not clear, but hopefully we can get through the agreement, but yes, it is cool.

In the summer World Cup in France, Matildas went to the eighth quarter, where Norway became too difficult. In the previous three World Cups, as in the 2016 Olympics, the team reached the quarterfinals. The men have reached the eighth-finals in the World Cup, 2006.

Australian ABC reports that Matildas got a million Australian dollars, about SEK 6.6 million, to split after the World Cup this summer. The Socceroos got eight times as much just to qualify for the men's World Cup last year.
