Matthijs de Ligt is not included in Juventus' match selection for the Champions League match on Wednesday in Russia against Lokomotiv Moscow. The defender is struggling with an ankle injury.

Twenty-year-old De Ligt sustained the injury on Saturday in the city derby against FC Torino, in which he shot Juventus with his first goal in Italian service to a 1-0 win.

It is not clear how serious the injury is and whether the employability of De Ligt is compromised by Orange.

The Dutch national team will play against Northern Ireland on Saturday 16 November and at home against Estonia on Tuesday 19 November in the European Championship qualification. If the Orange team takes at least one point in Belfast, placement for the European Championship is a fact.

Juventus definitely sure to overwinter

The match between Lokomotov Moscow and Juventus starts on Wednesday at 6.55 pm (Dutch time) in the RZD Arena in Moscow. Two weeks ago, the draw duel in Turin was won by Juventus, 2-1, and then De Ligt completed the ninety minutes.

If Juventus wins again on Wednesday, the team of coach Maurizio Sarri is sure to overwinter in the Champions League. The Italian champion is at the top of group D with seven points from three competitions.

Atlético Madrid also has seven points, Lokomotiv is the number three with three points and the Bayer Leverkusen of trainer Peter Bosz is still scoreless.
