Ajax starts Tuesday with Donny van de Beek, Hakim Ziyech and Lisandro Martínez in midfield in the Champions League match with Chelsea. With this, trainer Erik ten Hag opts for the first time in a European competition for the 'Eredivisie variant'.

Compared to Friday's PEC Zwolle game, Ten Hag will not make any changes to his line-up, which means that Noussair Mazraoui will again be preferred to Sergiño Dest as right back.

In the Champions League, Ten Hag has until now always set up a more conservative midfield with Edson Álvarez, Van de Beek and Martínez. Álvarez is the bench-keeper against Chelsea and David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Quincy Promes form the attack.

Chelsea-Ajax starts on Tuesday at 9 p.m. and is led by Italian Gianluca Rocchi. Both clubs have six points from three matches in group H of the Champions League.
