MADRID, Spain (Reuters) - Leaders Levante gave Barcelona a tough football lesson and beat it 3-1 on Saturday in the 11th round of La Liga.

Levante converted a late goal to win a hat-trick to bury Barcelona's third defeat of the season.

Argentine Lionel Messi took the lead for Barcelona in the 38th minute from a penalty, and Levante responded with two goals within two minutes through Jose Campagna and Borja Mayoral in the 61st and 63rd minute, then Serbian Nemanja Raduya scored the third goal in the 68th minute.

The win lifted Levante to 17 points in eighth place, while Barcelona have 22 points in the lead.

Barca are now in danger of losing their place in the top spot through runners-up Real Madrid, who are one point behind the leaders before their game later at home to Real Betis.
