The police took the World Cup rider on a bar deed

Admits partially

On Wednesday, a trial began in Innsbruck where the skier is being prosecuted for fraud.

The prosecutor claims that Hauke, by doping himself, unlawfully withdrew the equivalent of SEK 540,000 in prize money and sponsorship agreements.

Hauke admits that he has been doping since 2016, but denies that he has unlawfully made money from it, writes Austria's state television and radio channel ORF.

Defender Andreas Mauhart believes that the bulk of the amount the prosecutor refers to came from agreements that were not performance-based. The only requirement was that Hauke carried a logo - which he did.

Risking five years in prison

The defense also stressed that Hauke never intended to hurt, he just wanted to ski and show up to the home crowd.

"He just wanted to be good in his last World Cup," Andreas Mauhart said during the trial.

If 27-year-old Hauke is convicted, he risks between six months and five years in prison. He has previously said that the skiing career is over.
