Daniil Medvedev will participate in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam in February, the organization of the ATP tournament announced on Monday.
For the 23-year-old Medvedev it will be his third participation in Rotterdam. This year, the Russian was defeated in the semi-finals by Gaël Monfils, who won the tournament and will participate again in 2020. Stan Wawrinka and David Goffin are also present.
Medvedev is experiencing its major breakthrough this year. Earlier this month, he was in Shanghai in his sixth consecutive final. His impressive series began in Washington in July, after which he also reached the final battle at the Masters tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati, the US Open and in St. Petersburg.
Tournament director Richard Krajicek is delighted with the arrival of Medvedev. "Daniil is the player of the moment. With four titles and five final places, 2019 is the year of its final breakthrough," said Krajicek.
"He beat Novak Djokovic twice this year and made Rafael Nadal falter in the US Open final. As Alexander Zverev said, he is perhaps the best of all at the moment."
