It is at the University site in Tromsö that one should research the question of how the menstrual cycle and ovulation affect female athletes. No less than SEK 33 million (corresponding to just under SEK 35 million) has been awarded the Fendura project. Above all, one wants to investigate how it affects fitness and strength.

- It is so important to get this done, because much of the research done on endurance training is based on men, says project manager Boye Welde to NRK.

The project will last for four years, and then one should find out what the menstruation, hormonal variations and the use of birth control pills do for female athletes. You will look at both their training day and how they respond to the training.
