Washington Nationals won the first game in the World Series of the Major League Baseball on Tuesday (local time). Manager Dave Martinez's team triumphed in Minute Maid Park with 4-5 at Houston Astros.
The home team started well on the first meeting with the Nationals and quickly led 2-0. After the fourth inning, it was tied again and in the fifth inning, twenty-year-old Juan Soto batted in two men on behalf of the visitors. Houston Astros no longer recovered.
The Nationals are in the World Series for the first time in history. The team from Washington took the title in the National League by dealing with St. Louis Cardinals in the best-of-life series.
Washington Nationals is one of the seven clubs that have never won the World Series. The other six are Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Rays.
Houston Astros qualified for the World Series by claiming the title in the American League at the expense of New York Yankees. It is the third time that the team participates in the World Series; the title was captured in 2017.
The next meeting between Houston Astros and Washington Nationals is scheduled for Wednesday (local time). The team that is the first to record four wins may call itself the winner of the World Series.
