Defending champion Toronto Raptors started the new season in the NBA well. The Canadians won Tuesday (local time) in front of their own public after the extension of New Orleans Pelicans. LeBron James fell with Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers.

In the duel between the Raptors and the Pelicans, it was still the same after the fourth quarter (117-117) and therefore an extension was needed. Once again, things went right for a long time, but the home team still made the difference (130-122).

Fred VanVleet (34 points, five rebounds and seven assists) and Pascal Siakam (34 points, eighteen rebounds and five assists) were worth gold for the Raptors. VanVleet has never made so many points in an NBA competition.

The Raptors, who have to do without star player Kawhi Leonard, who has left for the Clippers this season, were honored for winning the title last season. The team from Toronto defeated Golden State Warriors in the final and became the first Canadian team ever to be champion in the NBA.

Clippers too strong for LeBron James and Lakers

In Los Angeles, the squatter between the Lakers and the Clippers was on the program on Tuesday evening. The Clippers are the title favorite this year with the arrival of Paul George and Leonard and started the hunt for the championship with a home win over the Lakers of James: 112-102.

Leonard immediately showed his value for his new team with thirty points, six rebounds and five assists. Among the Lakers, Draymond Green and newcomer Anthony Davis were the main drivers, but it wasn't enough for the Staples Center victory.

The Lakers are just taking revenge this year for a series of disappointing seasons in which the play-offs were missed. 34-year-old James, busy in his second year with the Lakers, was unable to help the Los Angeles formation last season. He was good for eighteen points against the Clippers.
