Peter Bosz and Bayer Leverkusen seem to be able to forget about wintering in the Champions League after three matches in group D. A visit to Atlético Madrid was lost 1-0 on Tuesday. In group C, Shakhtar Donetsk-Dinamo Zagreb remained undecided: 2-2.

The match between Atlético and Leverkusen in stadium Wanda Metropolitano was hardly worth the sight. The teams kept each other reasonably balanced and there were hardly any big chances until Álvaro Morata struck with a header in the final phase.

Bosz and Leverkusen needed a good result, because the first two games in the group were also lost. Both Lokomotiv Moscow (1-2) and Juventus (3-0) were too strong.

The Juventus of Matthijs de Ligt and Lokomotiv Moscow meet later in the third round of games later on Tuesday evening. The race in Turin starts at 9 p.m.

Stand group D

  • 1. Atlético Madrid 3-7 (5-2)
  • 2. Juventus 2-4 (5-2)
  • 3. Lokomotiv Moscow 2-3 (2-3)
  • 4. Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 (1-6)

More spectacle at Shakhtar-Dinamo Zagreb

Unlike Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb are still on track to make it to the Champions League knockout phase. The Ukrainians and the Croats made it a nicer game than in Madrid.

Shakhtar took the lead in the early stages thanks to Yevhen Konoplyanka, but Daniel Olmo and Mislav Orsic (penalty after a strange foul by keeper Andriy Pyatov) caused a change. In the final phase, Dodo signed for the equalizer.

Both clubs have four points from three matches, which is especially good for Zagreb; the club has never survived the group stage of the Champions League. The other match in group C, Manchester City-Atalanta, starts at 9 p.m.

Stand group C

  • 1. Manchester City 2-6 (5-0)
  • 2. Dinamo Zagreb 3-4 (6-4)
  • 3. Shakhtar Donetsk 3-4 (4-6)
  • 4. Atalanta Bergamo 2-0 (1-6)
