Vitesse has risen to third place in the Eredivisie on Saturday. The people from Arnhem booked a simple 0-4 win during a visit to VVV-Venlo. Earlier in the evening, Willem II did good business by winning 0-1 at FC Twente.
Due to the victory, Vitesse is at 23 points after ten games and never before has the club started such an Eredivisie season so well. The record was 22 points after ten matches in the 2000/2001 season.
The Gelderlanders now have as many points as number two PSV. The people from Eindhoven, who surprisingly lost 3-0 at FC Utrecht on Saturday, do have a better goal difference. VVV occupies thirteenth place with nine points.
Vitesse led 0-3 at half time in Venlo thanks to two hits from Bryan Linssen and a goal from Riechedly Bazoer. Linssen opened the score after half an hour by hitting the ball after a wonderful long pass from Armando Obispo over goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum.
Five minutes later, Linssen was again accurate. This time the attacker got the ball on a silver platter from Nouha Dicko and he simply hit the ball. Bazoer further expanded the margin with a long shot just before the break.
Early in the second half, Dicko made it 0-4 by completing a quick attack by Vitesse. The team of coach Leonid Slutsky then went looking for the fifth goal, but the VVV prevented a bigger defeat.

Vrousai gives Willem II a win over Twente
In Enschede, the final score was already on the scoreboard at FC Twente-Willem II after six minutes. From a cross by Freek Heerkens, Marios Vrousai headed close up.
Ten minutes later, Vangelis Pavlidis seemed to double the lead, but his header went over the wrong side of the post. After the break, chances were scarce in De Grolsch Veste. The visitors from Tilburg simply survived and booked their fifth victory of a season.
Willem II settled in the Eredivisie subtop thanks to the victory. Just like Heerenveen, which surprisingly won at AZ (2-4) earlier on Saturday, the 'Tricolores' have sixteen points from ten matches. The Frisians still enjoy a better goal difference than the people from Brabant.
FC Twente again suffered its fourth defeat in a row. After a strong start to the season, the formation of coach Gonzalo García García dropped to eleventh place in the Eredivisie.
