In Kaliningrad, at the age of 52, the former tennis player, honored coach of Russia Alexander Volkov, died. He began performing at a professional level in 1988 and managed to win three titles in ATP tournaments over an almost ten-year career. In 1994 and 1995, as part of the national team, he became a Davis Cup finalist. After retiring from sports in 1997, he devoted himself to coaching. Since 2002, Volkov was a mentor of the Russian national team, and then worked in his native Kaliningrad.
