After winning the WTA tournaments in Chinese Nanchang and Tianjin, Rebecca Peterson is ranked 44th in the world - her best listing ever. The success is, among other things, the trainer Thomas Högstedt who has been training the Swede since last summer. Högstedt is one of Sweden's most qualified coaches and has trained players such as Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki.

- After Wimbledon, I decided to expand the team with Thomas and he really has a big part in the success of the last few months, Peterson told SVT Sport.

Demanding leadership style

- He has meant an incredible amount. He himself has played and coached many top players and I am glad that he wants to share his experience with me. I have become better technically, tactically and mentally.

Högstedt has a tough leadership style and is described as demanding. A full 20 years have passed since he last trained a Swedish tennis player - including Magnus Norman and Pim-Pim Johansson, among others. Högstedt was not present when Peterson won the WTA titles in China, but still made great use.

- He, together with my dad who is also a coach, has structured my days. Then he sat up and watched all my matches and analyzed and talked to me about how to meet the other players.

Högstedt sees great potential in the 24-year-old Swede.

- The potential is unlimited. How it works depends mainly on how she develops in the near future, but she can go as far as any time. She has beaten the top ten players but then she has to get better at everything to hit the absolute top, says Högstedt.

Should be more offensive in the game

Now awaits some vacation for Peterson and then training for the next season. She should become more offensive, move more forward in the field and improve the service.

- I'll take another position and try to control the game more. I always feel that I'm hungry and want to be even better. I constantly strive for new goals.

Next season are the big goals of the Grand Slam tournaments and the Olympics.

- I will work hard for the Olympics, to take a seat. Then I not only want to take a seat but to compete for the medals.
