On Monday, the English national team was subjected to racist rebellions when they faced Bulgaria in the European Championship qualifier in Sofia. The referee stopped the game and the consequence was that several supporters had to leave the stand before the game could continue.

In Sweden's qualifying group yesterday Romania and Norway played the same on one before 30,000 children. Romania had been penalized for playing empty stands against the Norwegians on the grounds that racist rams were heard in the home matches against Spain and Malta. In a way to get around the punishment, the country's football association therefore invited 30,000 children to fill the stands as the penalty does not apply to children under the age of 14.

In a month, the Swedish men's national team will try to secure an European Championship ticket against Romania in Bucharest.

Can protest

Should the Swedish players be exposed to racist aspirations in that match, they may come to do just as the English did - protest.

- I haven't talked to any of them (the English players), but racism is something we all have to work against. It's not just in football it's a problem. No one deserves it and the English team does well, even the referee who interrupts the match. This is something we all have to work towards and try to put an end to, ”Victor Lindelöf tells SVT Sport.

Is there anything you think you should follow if it happens in the next match against Romania?

- I definitely think we should do that. If someone is exposed I think we should go together and do it together.

Robin Quaison is in the same line.

- Yes of course. We must stand united as a team. It will not be a strong effect if one makes si and the other so. We have to do it together, but we'll see.

- They (England) did as they said, I have great respect for that. It shows that the team is a unit even though you are dark-skinned or light. It shows that you stand together. If that happens in Romania, I don't want to think about it happening, but we are a team and we have to talk about it as a team and deal with it as a team, he says.
