The most difficult conditions in Doha were for the marathon ladies, where 30 out of 70 runners broke into the pressurized heat and high humidity. Swedish Cecilia Norrbom collapsed and will never run in similar conditions again.

- I will never run in this climate. It was too tough today. The external factors do not reflect the physical form, Norrbom told SVT Sport.

Pedestrian Perseus Karlström, who squeezed a long-awaited bronze, had 40.9 in body temperature and lost five kilos during his 20 km run.

"Those who have had my body temperature have been hospitalized," he said.

Five degrees lower temperature in Sapporo

In Doha, the marathon and walking competitions started at around midnight local time to get the coolest possible conditions. In Tokyo, the idea has been to start around 06.00. But now the IOK is more inclined to move the competitions to Sapporo 80 km north, the city that had the Winter Olympics in 1972 where the temperature is five, six degrees lower than in Tokyo.

The issue will be discussed in more detail at a Tokyo congress November 30, the AP writes.

"The Olympic Games are the platform where athletes can perform" once-in-a-lifetime "performances, and these measures ensure that they have the conditions to get their best capacity," says IOK's manager Thomas Bach.
