Prime Minister Bojko Borissov writes on Facebook that he is calling on Borislav Mihajlov to resign immediately after parts of the audience shouted applause to dark-skinned English national team players.

"It is unacceptable for Bulgaria, which is one of the most tolerant countries in the world and where people of different ethnicity and religion live in freedom, to be associated with racism and xenophobia," he writes.

Invitation: Break all contact

Borissov has asked Sports Minister Krasen Kralev to break contact with the country's football association.

- The government has done a lot for the development of Bulgarian football over the last four years. But after the latest events in football, and what happened last night, the prime minister has ordered me to break all contact with the football association, including financial relations, until the union chairman Birislav Mihajlovic resigns, Kralev told Reuters.

English player Raheem Sterling was one of the victims of racism and he supports Borissov's resignation requirements.

“A good move. Honor to you M. Borissov, ”he writes on Twitter.

England won the match in Sofia with an unmistakable 6-0, but that was what happened at the stands that stole the headlines and are now starting to get an aftermath.
