The director of the Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA ), Yuri Ganus , denounced on Tuesday "thousands" of manipulations of the anti - doping tests of the Moscow Laboratory , which he called " conspiracy " against Russian sport.

"There are thousands of manipulations. All this is very serious. They have betrayed us . It is a kind of conspiracy," Ganus told the Interfax agency.

He stressed that these changes, which would confirm the suspicions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (AMA), took place shortly before the delivery of laboratory data last January. "They said it was only (the former director of the laboratory, Grigori) Ródchenkov and someone else ... nonsense. The reputation of our leaders is at stake. The whole Russian Federation has been dealt a setback ," he said.

He recalled that what happened in the Moscow laboratory goes against the orders given by Russian President Vladimir Putin to solve the problems of Russian athletics for December.

Yanus alluded to the fact that the laboratory was under the control of the Instruction Committee, the most important judicial investigation body in this country.

"I think this was done to (protect) athletes who now hold high positions. This is my guess. I don't assure it is a fact," he said.

He regretted that Russia is now seen again as a "repeat offender", when attention on doping had moved to other countries.

Russia responded a week ago by letter and within the deadline required to the accusations of the AMA on the alleged manipulation of the anti-doping tests of the Moscow Laboratory. "The experts answered each and every question. At the end of October a meeting is planned in Lausanne with the participation of experts and stakeholders. We are convinced that we have met all the requirements," said Pável Kolobkov, minister of Sports, in a statement.

On September 23 the AMA announced an investigation due to doubts about the authenticity of the data collected a few months ago by the AMA in the Moscow laboratory, alluding to a possible manipulation of the doping tests, and gave Russia three weeks to respond to these accusations.

If such suspicions are confirmed, Russia could be excluded from the Tokyo Olympics , although the sports authorities and the Kremlin considered it premature to talk about a possible exclusion.

After these new accusations, athletes such as Maria Lasitskene , world champion for the third time in a row in Doha, and Alexandr Menkov, world champion in length but deprived of competing internationally, blamed the situation on the Russian Athletics Federation.

WADA had access to the Moscow laboratory at the beginning of the year and had until June 30 to reexamine the doping tests that arouse suspicion, the last step for the definitive rehabilitation of Russian sport.

A year ago, the AMA rehabilitated RUSADA under conditions, whose license was suspended four years ago between accusations of state doping.
