The 190 kilometer long second stage is a lot heavier with around 3,700 altitude meters. The riders reach the Col de la Colmiane and the Col de Turini above 1,500 meters and the Col d'Èze, known from Paris-Nice, is the last obstacle at 33 kilometers from the finish.

It is already known that the 107th edition of the Tour will start in Nice. The southern French city, starting and finishing place for the first two rides, previously hosted the 'Grand Départ' in 1981. Rumors suggest that the riders will face a tough Tour de France this summer. The course would only have one time trial, although it is on the penultimate day and will finish the race on the well-known climb La Planche des Belles Filles in the Vosges.
