On the final day of the competition, they had the last opportunity to end the tournament on a major note. In the vault for rewards, just Dalaloyan and Nagorny were going to fight. Arthur also reached the finals of the competition on the crossbar. In women, Lilia Akhaimova and bronze medalist in the individual all-around Angelina Melnikova made their way to the final of the floor exercises.

In two attempts, he earned 14.966 points. Silver, as in the all-around, went to Dalaloyan (14.933), who lost only 0.033 points to his compatriot. The bronze was won by the Ukrainian Igor Radivilov.

Thus, Nagorny became one of the main characters of the World Cup. First, he and his teammates won gold in the team all-around, then became the first in the individual all-around, and finally won the third gold in the vault. But a year ago in Doha, he was content with silver and bronze and remained in the shadow of Dalaloyan. Nikita modestly devoted his success to his wife, gymnast Daria Spiridonova.

“It’s hard, already tired, there is no emotion, every jump is two times to scatter, tune in, land and leave. I didn’t think about medals, yesterday I was upset for Dasha, hoping for the best, but she didn’t succeed. I decided to go out and win such a medal for her, ”- quotes the words of three-time TASS champion.

Nagorny also admitted that initially he could refuse to participate in this form at all.

“For the entire World Cup I have never jumped the second jump, with the exception of the finals and qualifications, I did not train it at all. There were even conversations at the warm-up, so that I didn’t do it in qualification and did not qualify for the final, but tuned in to the team and all-around. But I already had such cases when I refused, and this time I decided that I wouldn’t do it, and it was not just like that, ”the gymnast added.

As for Dalaloyan, he added bronze on the crossbar to the silver in the vault. With a score of 14.533, he lost only to the Brazilian Arthur Mariano (14.900) and the Serb Tin Srbić (14.666). Despite the fact that the Russian managed to win four medals in the end, the tournament turned out to be ambiguous for him, because he never managed to take the gold in personal forms. A year ago, a native of Tiraspol soloed in Doha, and now has remained behind Nagorny. In less than a year, two Russians will converge at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Melnikova's third medal and Biles record

Finally, the last competition day for Russia ended with another Melnikova medal. Earlier, Angelina took silver in the team all-around and bronze in the individual all-around. On Sunday, she managed to add bronze to these awards in floor exercises. The 19-year-old Russian woman let forward only the invincible Simone Biles and her compatriot Sunisa Lee.

Biles eventually became the main character of the championship. She won five gold medals in six forms and became the holder of a new record for the number of awards at the championships of the planet - 25. The 22-year-old American woman rewrote the seemingly unshakable achievement of the famous Soviet and Belarusian gymnast Vitaly Scherbo (23).

It was the gorgeous performance of Biles that allowed the US team to take first place in the medal standings with eight awards. Moreover, if you remove Simon’s awards, then the Americans will have only two silver and one bronze.

But Russia managed to get ahead of the Americans in the total number of medals. Domestic gymnasts won nine awards, three of different merits. At the same time, the domestic team did not significantly get the precious metal on Saturday.

However, even this does not prevent to recognize the performance of the Russian team quite successful. And most importantly, the team proved to be competitive in almost all forms. And Dalaloyan and Nagorny proved that they are among the strongest gymnasts in the world, which cannot but rejoice on the eve of the Olympic Games.
