- Obviously it feels good, this is why I play ice hockey, says Kaapo Kakko about the premiere goal during a press conference after the match.

- The first goal is always important, but it is not enough, he continues.

"Awesome moment"

The Finnish 18-year-old, selected as number two in the draft, played his third NHL match and many were delighted with him for the debut goal.

- It was his first NHL goal, of course it was a tremendous moment for him, for the team. So it was nice to see because of several reasons. Now he has clarified the first so that he can continue to develop and improve. But you don't win the match to score, says New York coach David Quinn.

For despite Kakko's premier goal, Quinn was most disappointed with the team's performance, where the final score was 4-1 to Edmonton.

- We started well but as the match progressed we became sloppier and sloppier.

Edmonton's best start in 34 years

Someone who had a bad day at work was goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist who let in four pucks. But he was also pleased with Kakko's performance.

- It was a nice goal, I'm happy for him, it's still early (in the season) so there will be many more coming from him, says Lundqvist.

Edmonton has now won five games on the rake in the season opener. Something that has not happened since the 1985–1986 season. The team's Oscar Klefbom scored a goal and an assist.

Target party for Los Angeles

The meeting between Nashville and Los Angeles seemed to end for a while similar to that between New York and Edmonton.

Los Angeles led 4-1 in the team's third season premiere at home. But Nashville leveled out to 4-4 and that result was up to the end of the match.

Then the California team dreamed up with a real goal party. In thirty seconds, the team scored three goals and the final score is written 7-4 to Los Angeles.

Nashville's Viktor Arvidsson scored while Filip Forsberg, Calle Järnkrok and Mattias Ekholm were listed for each assist.
